Nunka eskapas de ambezarte, ni digas ki saves todo

Never stop learning and never say you know it all

-Ladino Refran

The world of Sephardic Jewry offers so many options for learners to engage with its culture, history and language. From kantikas (songs) to folklore, stories, refranes (proverbs) and of course, food and cooking, there is material with which a wide audience of all ages can connect and enjoy.

Very young children can learn songs, roll out simple doughs, learn ladino words and "Joha" Stories that connect them to the Sephardic world.

For middle Schoolers and young adults there are engaging  talks and videos, as well as hands-on activities that help students visualize life for Jews in the Ottoman Empire, alongside more complex food education opportunities like folding bourekas, stuffing grape leaves, and roasting Huevos Haminados (shabbat "oven eggs").

For adults of all ages, lectures with vivid imagery provide a window into once-thriving communities like Salonika, Greece, and Izmir, Turkey, where Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) was so prevolent that the general population learned to speak it was well. Cooking classes in Sephardic Cuisine are filled with recipes that encourage community, collective work, and discussion. Together we generate even more inspiration to help these rich traditions live and thrive!
